Biography

Associate Professor Dr. Pramote Kuacharoen is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science, School of Applied Statistics, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). His academic and professional work spans computer science, cybersecurity, information security, computer networks, embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and mobile application design and development.

Dr. Kuacharoen received his B.S. and M.E. degrees in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1995 and 1996, respectively. He later earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2001 and 2004, respectively. His academic background has provided him with a strong foundation in computer systems, electrical and computer engineering, networking, secure computing, embedded systems, IoT, and applied intelligent technologies.

In 2004, Dr. Kuacharoen joined the Department of Computer Science at the National Institute of Development Administration. Since then, he has contributed to teaching, research, academic administration, and curriculum development in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, and related fields.

He currently serves as Director of the Library and Information Center at the National Institute of Development Administration, a position he has held since 2023. He also serves as Program Director of the Master of Science Program in Cybersecurity Risk Management at the School of Applied Statistics, NIDA, a role he has held since 2020.

Dr. Kuacharoen has also held several important administrative and academic leadership positions at NIDA. From 2010 to 2016, he served as Assistant to the President for Student Affairs. From 2016 to 2022, he served as Program Director of the Computer Science and Information Systems Program at the School of Applied Statistics. Earlier, from 2007 to 2009, he served as Program Coordinator of the Computer Science and Information Systems Program.

His research interests include cybersecurity, computer and network security, information security, computer networks, embedded systems, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and mobile application design and development. These areas reflect his interest in secure, reliable, connected, and intelligent computing systems, as well as practical technologies that support modern digital transformation.

Outside of his academic and professional work, Dr. Kuacharoen enjoys scuba diving, camping, hiking, weightlifting, traveling, and mountain biking.
