General Scholarships

 Educational support scholarship (TA Scholarship)

The Educational support scholarship aims to assist students who require urgent financial assistance. Each scholarship is 8,000 baht. Students who apply for this scholarship must have the following qualifications

  1. Having been a regular student at the Institute for at least 1 semester and attained a grade point average of not less than 3.00 at the time of the application.
  2. Having a need to seek financial assistance.
  3. Being willing and able to assist in the teaching load of lecturers at the School. The teaching load will not exceed 10 hours on average for the duration of 1 semester.

 Tuition fees scholarship

The tuition fees scholarship aims to assist students who require financial assistance by exempting the tuition fees of their program courses. Students who apply for this scholarship must have the following qualifications

  1. Being a regular student at the Institute.
  2. Having a need to seek financial assistance.
  3. In case of not being an enrolled student in the first semester, a cumulative grade point average has to be not less than 3.00 in the previous semester.

 Research scholarship

The research scholarship aims to promote and support the writing of theses and/or publishing them in a journal or an academic publication as well as presenting an article at an academic conference. This scholarship is provided to research students. It is divided into 2 types as follows

  1. Research scholarship – a 5,000 baht scholarship to assist thesis costs for master’s and doctoral degrees students. The scholarship conditions are as follows
    1. A recipient must be in the Plan A (thesis)
    2. A recipient must have already passed the final defense examination and submitted the completed thesis.
  2. Research publication and article presentation at conferences scholarship. The scholarship conditions are as follows
    1. Should the recipient’s article be accepted for presentation at a national or international conference whereby the article is peer-reviewed by experts, the registration cost of not more than 10,000 baht per person will be provided.

 Academic outstanding scholarship

The academic outstanding scholarship aims to be a symbol of honor for students whose academic performance is outstanding in order to encourage them to thrive for academic outstanding. This shall be done by issuing a certificate based on the form specified by the committee. Students eligible to be considered to receive this scholarship must have the following qualifications

  1. Being a student in a master’s degree program who has enrolled in not less than 24 credits (not including non-credit courses). The student has to continuously enroll in every semester and in every academic year (except the summer semester). For a regular program student, enrollments must not be less than 12 credits or not less than 9 credits for a special program student.
  2. Achieving the grades in the semesters enrolled in 24 credits in accordance with the texts under (1) to be an accumulative grade average point of not less than 3.75.

Thesis Scholarship from the national Budget

To support and promote the writing of students’ theses at the master’s and doctoral degrees levels to be of good quality and meet international standards. Students who wish to apply must have the following qualifications

  1. Being a regular student at the Institute at the doctoral or master’s degrees Plan A levels (thesis), whose topic and thesis proposal have been approved and are in the process of finalizing and submitting the completed thesis. The supervisor shall approve the scholarship type based on the 2 level of theses as follow
    1. A doctoral degree dissertation scholarship of not more than 50,000 baht.
    2. A master’s degree thesis scholarship of not more than 30,000 baht.

 Thai Life Insurance Public Company Limited

The aim is to support master’s degree level students majoring in actuarial science (regular program) with money to enroll in the entire program (2 years). Each scholarship is worth 75,000 baht. Students who wish to apply must have the following qualifications

  1. Being a master’s degree level students, enrolled in semester 1 and semester 2.
  2. Having a cumulative grade point average at the end of semester 1 of not less than 3.00
  3. Being of good characters.

The Thai Life Assurance Association Scholarship

1.1 Associates of Society of Actuaries (ASA) awards

Objectives
1. To support actuarial science students for additional knowledge development.
2. To promote self-learning based on foreign examination systems like in the US.

Numbers of scholarships
1. Each award is 7,000 baht (seven thousand baht) for those taking an examination under the Associates of Society of Actuaries (ASA) Course 1.
2. Each award is 7,000 baht (seven thousand baht) for those taking an examination under the Associates of Society of Actuaries (ASA) Course 2.

Courses eligible for awards
1. Course 1 and Course 2
2. Course 1 and Course 2. The Associates may consider giving awards to other courses if there are awards left from Course 1 and Course 2.

Students eligible for awards
1. Students studying at the bachelor’s or master’s degrees levels at the time of passing the examination.
2. Having passed Course 1 and Course 2 or any other courses the Association wishes to give awards (the grade of not less than 6).
3. Students not receiving a scholarship, an educational award or any other ASA course awards of the Association in the same academic year (1 scholarship / award per person, one or the other).

Note :
   1. The number of awards is limited to 42. The list of students from each institution will be considered together and those with the highest grades will be prioritized until the 42 award limit is reached.
   2. One student is eligible for 1 award only.
   3. Once universities have recommended their students, the Association will consider them and notify the outcome to the universities afterwards.
   4. The outcome of the Thai Life Assurance Association is deemed final.

1.2. Scholarship

Objectives

   1. To promote personnel in the life assurance business especially actuaries.
   2. To honor high performing students in the life assurance field.
   3. To provide educational support to students at universities that offer intensive life assurance or actuarial science programs.

Universities eligible for the scholarship

   1. Universities that offer life assurance/actuarial science courses as a branch or a major.
   2. Universities that offer insurance courses of not less than 15 credits and being life assurance or actuarial science of not less than 10 credits.
   3. Master’s degree level programs in actuarial science (regular program).
   4. The sub-committee on actuarial science will consider programs of universities and decide if they meet the scholarship criteria or not.

Scholarship amount

   1. Each scholarship is worth 10,000 (ten thousand baht).
   2. Scholarship allocations to each university are based on the numbers of credits for life assurance/actuarial science courses offered and the numbers of students enrolled in the courses.
   3. The sub-committee on actuarial science will consider the scholarship allocations to eligible universities.

Student recruitment criteria

   1. Students may be eligible to receive a scholarship subject to the followings
   *Master’s degrees
   - Grade point average (at least for 2 semesters and cumulative credits of not less than 18 credits) of not less than 3.30
   - Students working for a life assurance company are eligible to apply for a scholarship only if they are not scholarship recipients of any life assurance company during their master’s degree studies.
   * Being of good behaviors without a severe punishment, probation or any other malpractice reputation.
   2. The Institute recommends the students’ names with the qualifications under 1.
   3. The Association will consider the recommendation and inform the university of the outcome.
   4. Students will receive a scholarship based on their grades per year (not a continuously binding scholarship).
   5. The outcome by The Thai Life Assurance Association is final.
